A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Chinese Proverb
My yoga practice began in 2002, and continues to evolve and positively effect every aspect in my life. Practicing yoga has been a journey inward and an exploration into the depths of my heart. I have been blessed with the opportunity to study with many inspiring teachers. In 2007 I dedicated myself to Anusara yoga and met my primary teacher Michael Fukumura, and in 2009 I met John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga. I am grateful beyond measure for both John and Michael’s support and philosophy teachings in Rajanaka Tantra.
In 2009 I completed a twelve month Anusara 3-part Immersion series and level one teacher training with Michael. I leaped into the seat of the teacher in 2010 teaching at both Yoga Tropics and Yoga Swami’s yoga studios. My classes are designed to inspire students of all levels of ability to feel good about themselves and to see the good in all people and all things. My goal is to help build and empower each student’s self-esteem, while inspiring light-heartedness, playfulness, and joyful creativity within the yoga practice.
Anusara means “flowing with grace” and “to step into the currents of the heart”. Anusara Yoga is a hatha yoga system. Hatha Yoga describes any of the physical practices of yoga and the poses in Anusara yoga are considered to be “heart-oriented,” meaning that they are expressed from the “inside out.” This elegant system combines precise therapeutic biomechanics with a vision of playfulness, creativity and kindness that welcomes everyone!
The land of healing lies within, radiant with the happiness that is blindly sought in a thousand outer directions.
