Yoga Swami is an amazing space, filled with a group of loving people in a beautiful garden setting.

Taking a yoga class in the yurt – where you can hear the birds and see the sun - makes the experience that much more peaceful.

The instructors are dedicated to this space and their students, which shows in every class. I’m inspired each time I go!

I am interested in having one of the teachers join me at Questhaven Retreat Center next Saturday, May 30 where I will be teaching a mindful all-day meditation retreat. I have done so for over 15 years through Scripps Hospital and would love to have someone offer a gentle 90 practice any time during the day. I took Jennifer Waters restorative yoga last Friday and loved it. Would love to have her call me if interested (760) 310-2920 or if someone is available, would also invite that conversation. I've had the privilege of being a part of Yoga Swami since its beginning - before there was any yurt! When Dawn and a group of volunteers began clearing the space where the yurt is located today the garden was a wasteland: trash was littered everywhere and it was devoid of life.

To see it now, in its present shape and form, gladdens my heart - a small haven of sanity in an insanely busy world. The garden abounds with Life of all shapes and forms, and birds, critters, and other life forms join together in a euphony of joyful sounds; Plants grow and blend beautifully into the background as yoga students artfully cultivate their bodies, minds and hearts. The boundaries between the yurt and the garden are thin - thin enough for the student to remember the Earth upon which she practices, the Earth that is her home.

Yoga Swami is a spiritual, yet deeply earthy haven - a retreat for the embodied soul. The acts of Love that Dawn and countless volunteers have poured into this space render it a sacred Space that needs to be preserved.

It is difficult to describe Yoga Swami in a traditional way, yes it is beautiful and serene the way most yoga places strive to be, but that does not convey the essence of the Yurt. Yoga Swami is a breathing entity that makes you feel safe and comforted from the moment you pass through her gate. Most of us practice yoga to connect, whether it be with our bodies, our higher selves or the world and people around us. Yoga Swami evokes this connectedness, it is peaceful and kind and has brought us together. I believe we all need to honor and appreciate the great things in our lives and most importantly, we must enthusiastically support them. Make a difference, be great in your life so that others may benefit!
